| Wuhan Binhu Mechanical & Electrical Co. Ltd., located in Optics Valley Of China, Wuhan, is a high-tech company which is co-organized by HUST and Shenzhen Innovation Investment Company. It is a high and new technology enterprise which is authorized by Peoples Government of Wuhan. It relies on Rapid Prototyping and Manufacturing Center of HUST and adopts the operating laser mode of "Two ends inside, the middle outside." The company produces RP systems, provides complete set of Rapid Prototyping/Rapid Tooling technique and still offers services and consultations of techniques. It is an integrated enterprise of science, industry and trade and is located in the Rapid Prototyping Building of HUST.
Rapid Prototyping and Manufacturing Center of HUST, which is one of the first units to study the RP technique, began the study in 1991. It has been supported by National Ministry of Science and Technology, National Ministry of Education, National Natural Science Fund Council, National 863 High-Tech Project, Hubei Science and Technology Office and Wuhan Science and Technology Bureau successively. In 1994, the company succeeded in developing the HRP-I model machine of LOM RP system. In September, 1995, the HRP-I model machine took part in Beijing International Machine & Tool Exhibition .It was the first RP facility in our country that has ever taken part in this kind of exhibition and was paid close attention by visitors. In the exhibition our HRP-I system was reported with its high, new and advanced technique and also highly praised by experts.
In order to accelerate the change of high and new technology into productivity, HUST, Wuhan Science Council and Shenzhen Innovation Investment Company set up Wuhan Binhu Mechanical & Electrical Co. in 1996,which was authorized as high-tech company by Peoples Government of Wuhan.Ltd later.
At the end of 1997, the company released the commercial Laser RP system named HRP-III and produced multi-type RP system of HRP series after that, which produced distinguished economic benefit and social benefit for customers. At the end of 1998, after demonstrated and examined by experts, four types of RP system ( eg. HRP-III) developed by the company were brought into the national high-tech development project of "863/CIMS". In 1999, after examined by National Ministry of Science and Technology, the company got the national middle-company innovation fund.
In July, 2000, the HRP-IIIA RP system was accredited by the Accreditation Council organized by Hubei Science and Technology Office. The council was constituted by engineering academia, principal of 863 Project, well-known experts and professors and high-level engineering technician. They considered the main technical performance index of HRP-IIIA RP system as achieving the international advanced level of 90s.
Since 1998, the company has succeeded in developing the commercial RP system named HRPS-I , HRPS-IIIAwhich employed macromolecule material as raw material and thus can process moulds ,cores and parts directly.
In April, 2001, the HRPS-IIIA RP system was accredited by the Accreditation Council organized by Hubei Science and Technology Office. They considered the precision of the part formed by HRP-IIIA to be equal with that of the like products in the whole world and the synthetical performance index as achieving the international advanced level.
At present, the company can provide multi-types of commercial RP systems for the society, such as HRP(LOM), HRPS(SLS), HRPL(SLS), HZK( ) and HRE( 3D RE) .
Depending on techniques provided by Rapid Prototyping and Manufacturing Center of HUST, Wuhan Binhu Mechanical & Electrical Co. Ltd. is made up of some teachers from Material College of HUST. We have 7 professors, 6 associate professors, 10 instructors, 13 doctors and 62 masters. The research relates to Mechanical Engineering, Automatic Control, Computer Science, Macromolecule Material, Foundry Technique, Laser Technology and so on. We have engaged in the RP research field for 13 years and got 11 patents.
HUST is directly under important university of National Ministry of Education. She has an advantage of multi-disciplinary achievements in scientific research, and has made great achievements in the field of modern CAD technology, modern NC technology, Reverse Engineering, CAD/CAE/CAM/CAPP of dies, Investment Casting, Laser Machining, Computer Technology, Macromolecule Material and so on. Furthermore, she have a State Key Laboratory of Die & Mould Technology, a State Engineering Center of Laser, a Engineering and Training Center of NC Technology affiliated to National Ministry of Education, CAD/CAM Training Center affiliated to National Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of science Rapid Prototyping and Manufacturing Productivity Promoting Center affiliated to National Ministry of Science and Technology and so on. All these provide avail conditions for the research and development of RP technology.
